BS EN124:1994 Loading Categories
Wrekin designed manhole covers and gully gratings fully
conform to British Standard EN 124: 1994. The guidelines provided
under this standard set out the method by which manhole covers
should be categorised. The type of loading to which the fixture
will be subjected determines the class of manhole cover used;
therefore its location is critical when deciding which manhole
cover or gully grating is to be installed.
A15 - for use in pedestrian and cycling areas ONLY!
B125 - for use in car park & pedestrian areas, with no heavy vehicular traffic.
C250 - for use in car parks, forecourts, industrial sites and areas with slow moving traffic.
(Up to 500mm from the kerb & 200mm in to the verge/path).
D400 - for use in any highway environment e.g. hard shoulder, carriageway, motorway ( Unite design )
High Loading categories.
E600 - for use in locations of high wheel loads e.g. docks, heavy loading bay.
F900 - for use in areas of extremely high loads e.g. airports & dockyard.
