Wrekin offer two principle ranges of Non-Woven geotextile, our Thermally bonded Non-Woven (NW) range and our Needle punched SNW/VNW ranges.
Wrekin non-woven geotextiles are manufactured by extruding continuous polypropylene filaments into short staple fibers, for processing on one of several non-woven lines. Each line involves the continuous laying of fibers onto a moving conveyor belt to form an unbound web. This web passes along the conveyor to be either mechanically bonded (needle-punched) or thermally (heat) bonded. After bonding, the finished product is wound into a roll.
Multitrack Thermally Bonded NW range
Produced using a combination of mechanical and thermal bonding, our NW product range has smaller opening sizes and a higher water-flow than our standard woven range and is often used in filtration applications. Typical examples include use as a filter wrap to a trench drain or as a filter between a fill material and a granular drainage blanket.
Multitrack NW8
Multitrack NW8 is our direct equivalent to Terram 1000, which has become a generic term for the standard geotextile requirement. Multitrack NW8 is our most commonly specified product type most commonly used for separation, filtration, erosion control, attenuation units, horse arenas, trench drain etc...

Multitrack Needle Punched SNW
This products is manufactured with white (SNW) staple fibres. The end products are of a felt-like appearance and are ideal for use in the geotextile functions of protection, drainage and erosion control. As a protection layer, the product is used in both landfill sites and water storage reservoirs to protect the impermeable lining system from damage. As a drainage layer, the product has the ability to transmit water along its thickness to a suitable outlet. In erosion control systems, the thick non-woven product may be used as an alternative to heavyweight wovens for protecting a river bank or coastline. In this last application, geotextiles with a high puncture resistance are required due to large stone amour being used to provide a barrier against damaging wave action.
