Hinge and Lift Out

HaloHinge

An expansion of the Highway range, our hinge and lift out HaloHinge manhole covers can be safely removed using our unique safety keyways and standard BS 7903 lifting keys, but can also be hinged to 100°, where they are secured in place.

HaloHinge's innovative design incorporates inboard hinges (on the inside of the frame), this allows easy surfacing compaction against the straight edges of the frame whereas common alternatives, have protruding hinges that are difficult to compact around without damaging the hinge housing and covers foundation.

Should I upgrade to an E600 cover?

There are several advantages, and reasons driven by standards, to increase the load classification of an access cover from D400 to E600, including:

Increased frame bedding area

E600 covers feature an increased frame bedding area, which results in a reduction in bedding stresses during trafficking, increasing the longevity of the product and its installation.

Increased resistance to unintended traffic

E600 products are more likely to be resistant to unintended traffic loads e.g. pre-service loads as commonly found on construction sites which can result in damage to installed ironwork.

AADT >1,500?

National Highways CD 534 stipulates where the Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) of light goods vehicles travelled on a road is greater than 1,500 in each direction, an E600 cover must be installed. Most A roads will have an AADT above this.

Years of exceptional performance

Our Highway D400 covers are still operating at full capacity after three and a half years of being subjected to high levels of HGV traffic. Meaning the organisation can focus solely on new work, rather than being distracted by manhole covers that have failed prematurely and need fixing or, in some cases, reinstalling.
