Bespoke access covers add premium aesthetic and functionality to visionary Olive Lane development

  • Lindum Group

  • Waverley Estate

  • Manhole cover

We have played a key role in the development of Olive Lane, a landmark brownfield regeneration project on the outskirts of Rotherham. Including more than 1,700 occupied new-build homes and the UK’s leading Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP), Waverley is home to a visionary mixed-use development. Olive Lane is set to become a vibrant hub, complete with restaurants, coffee shops, a medical centre, and a community centre.

To align with Olive Lane’s high-quality urban design, we were approached by independent builders' merchants Construction Lines to create a bespoke access cover solution. Given the prominence of the scheme, it was essential that even the smallest details contributed to the development’s premium aesthetic and functionality.

Manhole covers are often overlooked when it comes to the aesthetics of a project, yet our bespoke solutions offer designers another avenue to be creative. Particularly for a development like Olive Lane, where the look and feel of the area is so important, a custom design was a crucial element in maintaining the scheme’s character.

Developing a unique design

Working together

Working closely with developer Harworth Estates and contractor Lindum Group, we developed a unique access cover design that seamlessly integrates into the public realm. The covers were tailored to incorporate references to Waverley and Olive Lane, reinforcing a strong sense of place while maintaining the highest standards of durability and performance.

Our technical expertise ensured that the access covers met the project’s requirements in both form and function. By developing a bespoke solution, we helped enhance the streetscape of Olive Lane, creating a totally unique, visually appealing and practical infrastructure element that complements the wider regeneration scheme.

We take pride in delivering tailored solutions that align with our clients’ visions. The Olive Lane project is a fantastic example of how our products can seamlessly integrate into high-profile developments, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality. It has been a pleasure working with Harworth Estates and Lindum Group to bring this bespoke design to life.
