Wrekin achieves BES 6001 accreditation for responsible sourcing

We are pleased to announce that we have achieved BES 6001 accreditation, marking an important step in strengthening our approach to responsible sourcing across our ductile iron product ranges.

Following a comprehensive assessment process with BSI, including a recent in-person review, we have successfully demonstrated compliance with the requirements of the standard. The additional visit allowed for a more detailed evaluation of our processes, particularly in areas identified during the initial review, and confirmed the strength of our approach.

BES 6001 is the framework standard for the responsible sourcing of construction products. It assesses how organisations manage governance, supply chains and the environmental and social impacts associated with their operations. Achieving accreditation shows that we have clear, structured systems in place to ensure materials are sourced responsibly and that our processes are both transparent and accountable.

Our certification applies to key product categories including manhole covers, gully gratings and surface boxes. Across the assessment, we achieved Excellent ratings in organisational management and supply chain management. These results reflect a strong and consistent approach across the business.

While this is a solid outcome, the assessment also identified clear opportunities to further enhance our performance. These areas are already well understood and provide a defined route to achieving higher ratings in future assessments.

Responsible sourcing continues to play an increasingly important role in the construction industry, particularly for projects aligned with sustainability frameworks and procurement requirements. BES 6001 accreditation supports our customers by providing confidence in the origin and management of materials, while also helping to streamline tender responses and compliance processes.

Our certification is valid through to 2029 across our ductile iron product scope. We will continue to build on this foundation, focusing on continuous improvement across our operations and supply chain to further strengthen our position in the market.
