Utility Business Development Manager

Job purpose

To increase Wrekin’s profile with new and existing Utility clients and existing nominated sub-contractors through excellent account management.

The enforcement of Utility contracts with contractors and distributors, ensuring that Wrekin held supply framework agreements are being adhered to and customer satisfaction is high.

Cross-linking business opportunities between Utility and Local Authority clients and contractors.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To grow sales volume(s) for Wrekin held Utility framework agreements.
  • Engage and develop relationships with nominated Utility sub-contractors and maximising sales opportunities.
  • Understanding the Utility client’s route to market and working closely with nominated distributors to ensure correct supply of product for the framework.
  • To identify areas within the scope of the Utility supply for installer/operative product training and education.
  • To identify opportunities to introduce new product innovations to the Utility sub-contractor.
  • To identify other business opportunities with Utility sub-contractors outside of the Utility supply scope and interacting with other Wrekin departments to share information e.g. Utility sub-contractor also working on housing development contracts – work with relevant RSM team member to maximise opportunity.
  • Maximising opportunities, in conjunction with the RSM team, to influence Local Authority clients via Utility product specification and shared geography.

  • Ability to work well on your own and also as part of a team
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Good IT skills inc Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Full driving licence
