A Marathon Effort from Wrekin

Staff of Wrekin Products, manufacturer of intelligent products for civil engineering, have run the equivalent of 11 marathons to raise over £400 for the British Heart Foundation.

MyMarathon took place across Britain in May. Each person had to run the length of a marathon during the month, choosing to run as far at a time as they wanted and logging their progress towards the 26.2 mile total.

“Team Wrekin was so passionate about participating in MyMarathon that some of the runners actually ran more than a marathon. We’re very happy to support the life-saving research that the British Heart Foundation does, especially in a way that helps us to keep fit while we raise money.”

Heather Coxon, Sales Account Manager at Wrekin, organised Team Wrekin. Eleven members of the Lichfield-based company – which manufactures manhole covers, geosynthetics and other essential ground engineering products – took part in MyMarathon, collectively raising more than £400 for the British Heart Foundation. By hitting this milestone, Wrekin will receive a MyMarathon trophy for its fundraising efforts.

Chris Eccleston, Marketing Manager at Wrekin, was one of the runners and also organised a cake sale to add to Team Wrekin’s fundraising. “I’m delighted to have completed MyMarathon for the British Heart Foundation, a charity that has helped friends and families when they’ve suffered heart problems.”

In total, MyMarathon attracted nearly 22,000 runners across the UK, covering a distance of over half a million miles.
