Wrekin Products’ new director is to use his strong research and development background to lead the technical arm of the business.
“Wrekin Products has an enviable portfolio of civil engineering products from ductile iron manhole covers through to geosynthetics,” says Simon. “We have an ambitious R&D programme in place and I’m relishing the chance to build on this strong track record as we develop exciting new products.”
Loughborough University Industrial Design graduate Simon Gibson joins Wrekin Products as Technical Director with more than 10 years’ experience in research, innovative design, product development, international project management and pioneering new methods of working. As an Honorary Fellow at Leeds Sustainability Institute, Simon was drawn to working with Wrekin Products for its commitment to develop products for the civil engineering industry that increase whole of life performance.
Simon has worked on product development programmes and marketing for some of the world leaders in design, production and distribution of sustainable construction products. He will be working with the experienced team at Wrekin Products’ head office in Lichfield to tackle the latest challenges facing engineers and contractors, including the harmonising of European standards for manhole covers that will make them subject to CE marking this year.
