Notes

Fitting existing structures

  1. Drill two holes 14mm diameter, at 320mm hole centres at least 165mm deep.
  2. Ensure the holes are parallel and not at right angles to a circular shaft. This is important to stop the step being stressed whilst fitting (see line drawing).
  3. Remove dust from hole and apply cementitious or epoxy grout with a compressive strength equivalent to the concrete to the tails of the step and inside holes.
  4. Hammer the step on each leg to drive into holes evenly. Do not hammer the step in the centre because this causes rebound.
  5. Make good any spoiling and do NOT use the step until the grout/epoxy has set or cured.

Fitting new structures

  1. The steps are designed to suit the joints between the bricks.
  2. Double steps will fit between a full brick and one cut just less than half a brick or in the horizontal gap.
  3. Insert a step every three to four courses of bricks depending on the size of brick and application.
  4. Vertical joints need to be at 320mm for double steps.
